As I shared previously, I don’t believe a Christian can or needs to seek a platform, one is automatically given as long as you desire to share your opinion publicly (see blog here).
Let’s ask ourselves are we being a good steward over the platform that God has given to us?
Who is a steward? Someone who is given conditional authority over certain resources by another person.
Everything belongs to God and He owns all things (Psalm 24:1, 1 Corinthians 6:20) and God holds us accountable for the things He has entrusted to us (Matthew 25:19).
Unfortunately, our human tendencies of pride, selfishness and need for affirmation and status can get the best of us and we take God’s gift and make them all about us.
This means as a believer that is utilizing any platform, whether through writing, blogging, social media, dancing, speaking, planning etc. we have to realize we cannot do this for ourselves. The platform we are given is to share God’s goodness, the salvation message and proclaim His name. God has given His children gifts for the sake of each other for His glory.
1 Peter 4:10-11 – “God has given each of you some special gifts (abilities); be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings. Are you called to preach? Then preach as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies so that God will be glorified through Jesus Christ—to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.”
Does that mean, every day we have to quote scriptures on our platform or you can’t talk about your family, or business or even take a selfie? I don’t think so. But I believe, whatever you share must represent your Christian values. So, if you are a woman of God, you are not free to share expletives if you get angry or dress provocatively.
I must also mention that once you start to utilize public platform to share the Gospel, you will be judged a bit stricter by God. This is not to scare you but it’s to caution you that whatever you share should be Truth (aligned with scriptures). (Read James 3:1)
So, I encourage you to be grateful for the platform you have and do everything in excellence to represent the King. Believers, we are called to be impactful in the nation and if we allow fear to stop us from sharing God’s Truth, we are doing the society an injustice because more than ever now, the world needs the message of Jesus Christ that offers hope and redemption.
I love you and God loves you more!
