There are many reasons I could list why you haven’t written your 1st book yet. The list would include:
- You don’t know what to write about
- You’re unsure anyone would want to buy it
- You just don’t know where to start and the list goes on and on and on.
Now are these good reasons? In some cases maybe, but I think the more important question is “How important is it to get this book out?
You might be shocked and probably even a bit upset with me for saying this, but none of those are the main reasons you haven’t written that book that’s been on your heart.
Do you really want to know why you’ve been procrastinating on getting this book out?
Well…
You haven’t written the book because you have no reason to write a book.
Yes I said it.
And it’s as simply as that.
Your motive for writing this book is not clear.
Let me tell you, in everything we do, our motive is the driver. If your “WHY” is not bigger than your “how”, then you’ll find all the excuses why you can’t get it done.
Before I wrote my first book, Living A Royal Reality, I had dreams of becoming an author, but I never found the determination to get it done. It was on my to-do-list for the future, but I couldn’t find the time, money and I just didn’t know how to get started.
In 2015 as I was preparing a message to preach at the She’s Royal Empowerment Conference, the Lord started to download so many things about the topic “Living A Royal Reality” and told me that my book will be out next year (2016).
I put down all the notes after the conference and forgot about the book (or tried to forget about it). But God kept pressing on my heart that this book is not about me and it’s not for me.
It had little to do with me becoming an author, but everything to do with the women who needed the message of Discovering Their Identity, Purpose and Worth in Christ.
So, even when I had doubts, even in my fears, even when I had no clue where the funds would come from to publish the book, I found the DRIVE to write, to seek help and to pray like my life depended on it.
My motives were: 1) I must obey God – I know obedience is better than sacrifice so I had to eliminate the excuses and get it done because God said so! 2) I know women were depending on my obedience – somebody needed the message I had to share and I had to press on despite my feelings
I had to find my “WHY” ( or why’s) and once I did, I was not only able to be obedient but I became an Amazon Best seller.
So what’s the #1 Reason you haven’t written your book yet?
You don’t have real motive to do so!
Once you find that main driver, you will do everything you need to do to get the book done.
