How To Show Up Big In 2019

It’s already Day 16 in 2019 and I know for many people it’s as if “I wasn’t quite ready for a new year”. Other people are full speed ahead with their plans and they have even started marking things off their vision boards (woot).

Wherever you are on your journey so far in 2019, I trust this blog will be the encouragement and motivation that you need to go after those God-given goals this year!

2018 personally was on course as a good year (of course that changed when my little sister died on December 4th).  Despite that, I believe that I grew as a woman of God and as a kingdom entrepreneur (especially compared to 2017).

I shared my major wins on social media (click here to read), and I was filled with gratitude for all I accomplished and God deserves all the glory. There are a few simple steps which I believe will help you run your best 2019, here goes!

  1. Outline your own expectations:— Firstly, ask yourself what “SHOW UP BIG” looks like for you personally. Too often we are caught up with what we see others  achieving and suddenly, we start believing that we are not doing well because it doesn’t look like what someone else/others are doing. Spend some time in prayer and seek God to help you to discern the season you are currently in, so that you will pursue goals aligned with your purpose and season and not simply chase possessions. Record the vision God gives you for 2019, I guarantee it won’t look like anyone else’s.

SelfCheck – What does showing up big look like for me?

Picture the end of 2019, what have you accomplished spiritually, personally or financially? Who have you become?

  • Reflect on the lessons of 2018:- Sometimes we can’t move on because we keep having to retake the same lessons. We try to go into another season making the same mistakes. In order for you to “show up big”, you should take some time to reflect on what lessons have I learnt in 2018.

#Selfcheck — What were my wins and losses? How can I ensure that I don’t repeat the same mistakes or go around the mountain one more time?

  • Set quarterly, weekly, then daily goals:– I must admit this was one of the best practices I adopted in my life in 2018. I had 3 major goals that I wanted to accomplish every 3 months, then I had to list the steps I would need to take weekly in order to achieve my overall goals. Daily, I would write down my to-do list to ensure that I was achieving my intentions for the week. It sounds tedious but honestly it’s not, if you don’t know where you are going, you will end up nowhere. This practice of writing down your goals, will help you track your progress. You will look up and realize that you have done so much. Even in the things you don’t achieve, you won’t feel as badly because you will still get alot done.

#SelfCheck — What are your clear goals for 2019 (no more than 10)? Have you written your 1st quarter goals? How serious are you about your intentions for 2019?

  • Serve and Celebrate Others:- I know that you’re thinking, isn’t showing up ‘BIG’ about me? No boo… Life is never about us. Everything God has placed within us is for us to serve others. Your testimonies, your gifts, your talents, your story… it’s all to build the kingdom of God. No matter how many goals you achieve, if people are not being impacted in some way, you need to check whether those are your goals or God’s goals for you. My biggest accomplishments in 2018 wasn’t my award or the fact that my business grew. The truth is, my award was a testimony that God can use anybody (even a little inner-city girl), to write a book about His grace and He used it to touch other people’s lives. Praying that others may see this and know that God has no favorites, in fact, you are His favorite. Even the fact that my business grew this year was through me helping people write their own books and building their own businesses that made their dreams come true. Also, ensure that, as you achieve things, get in the habit of celebrating others and their successes. Be a cheerleader as you serve others!

#Selfcheck —- Who are you called to serve in this season? What goals do you have to help someone along the way on your path to success? How can you create a habit of celebrating others?

  • Surround yourself with Christ-centered people:- This one might offend some people, but you know I speak my truth and not try force my convictions on anyone. I believe in being positive and letting go of negative thinking because they hold you back from being who God has called you to be. But truth is, you can be positive and go straight to hell. You can be positive and accomplish all your goals but never achieve God’s purpose for your life because Jesus is not Lord of your life. In order for you truly show off BIG in 2019, your circle is very important. Having people who are pushing you to Christ and keeping you accountable for the goals you share with them will be critical.

This means that some people who call themselves Christians may not be in your inner circle because they can’t be happy for what God is doing in your life. So, I challenge you to pray about who should be a part of your inner circle this year (I believe I will blog about this separately soon). But don’t take this lightly!

#Selfcheck – When was the last time you evaluated your circle? Are they practicing believers? What are their responses when you share your God-given vision?

I leave these 5 steps with you to help you SHOW UP BIG in 2019! These are things that I practice and the results continue to blow my mind, as I seek the kingdom first. I pray that even if you take any of these success habits and implement them, you will see your life change also. Don’t forget to answer the self-check questions to help you create your own plan for 2019.
