We want to live a victorious Christian life. To perform awesome feats in the name of Jesus. To have a strong faith that is never broken or defeated. In order to have these and more we must enjoy an intimate relationship with God. We must know God and He should be involved in our daily living. So before you take that leap of faith ensure you are in touch with Daddy God.
In our physical world when children make decisions that will impact their lives greatly in the immediate or distant future, their parents should be involved in the decision making process. Likewise children of the heavenly King should involve Him in their decision making. Before stepping out in faith we must make sure that we have our heavenly Parent’s blessing.
This we do by:
1. Cultivating a spiritual armour wearing lifestyle (Ephesians 6:11-17).
- Belt of Truth: Seek after the truth found in God and be a person of integrity.
- Breastplate of Righteousness: Do what God says is right.
- Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Be prepared at all times to tell others about the Gospel of peace.
- Shield of Faith: Focus on God and trust His character to keep us safe.
- Helmet of Salvation: Believe in Jesus and the hope He brings to keep our minds safe from the control of the devil.
- Sword of the Spirit: Know God’s Words so we can use them to defend ourselves against the attack of the devil.
2. Loving God and others. We prove our love for God through the way we treat the people we interact with.
- Forgiving and seeking forgiveness. When we forgive persons who have wronged us, seek forgiveness for our wrongdoing, and forgive ourselves. Empty our hearts of bitterness and make room for the Holy Spirit of God to dwell fully.
- Making a habit of having daily conversations with God. We are able to tell Him about all the things that concern us and He, in turn, tells us what He thinks by guiding our thoughts and actions.
4. Being Obedient to God’s wishes. God tells us to do something, we do it even if it doesn’t make sense at the moment. If we are unsure that it is God directing us, we can test the spirit by seeing if what we are being asked to do aligns with God’s character as demonstrated in the Bible. If it does, do what Jesus encouraged us to do, step out in faith and do not have doubt.
A leap of faith done against the background of consultation with God and obedience to His Word should only lead to a strengthening of the bond between us and our heavenly Daddy.
