Why wait until next year to go after your goals? Let’s finish this year strong.

“But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is a reward for your work.” – 2 Chron 5:17

Here are 5 practical steps that can help you to finish 2021 strong:

  1. Make a decision to intentionally finish this year strong

A strong decision leads to commitment and it is the commitment that paves the way for action. To be able to make an acute decision – whether consciously or subconsciously – think of your needs, your desires, your wants and what is most important at the end of the day. The year is coming to an end and just like everyone else, you want to finish strong, don’t you? Well, it’s time for you to make a decision about being intentional to ensure that you finish well. To be intentional means to be purposeful and nothing beats an action-driven by purpose. “You have to want it in order to go after it”. So, to end strong, start at being intentional.

  1. Write down 1-3 goals you will work on before the year ends

You have the vision to finish the year strong, how will you accomplish it? You’ve probably heard it before, a goal without a plan is just a wish, which is nothing short of the truth. Being intentional includes planning. You need actionable goals that will help you achieve your vision and after you have that, hold yourself accountable by writing down S.M.A.R.T objectives to achieve each goal, also note who can help you with it all and don’t forget to set your deadlines.

  1. Clean and declutter your physical space

Listen, there is so much peace that comes from decluttering your space. Mental Health professionals have found that a cluttered space is linked to high-stress levels, difficulty focusing and lower self-esteem than if your space was decluttered. With that being said, you may have just found your solution to better mental and physical health – decluttering. There is no true success in ending the year well and you are out of shape mentally and physically. In fact, you may have issues finishing any at all if your health is not in check. So, be deliberate about decluttering your space – which will reduce your stress levels, build positive self-esteem and regain your focus so you can finish the year well.

  1. Choose 1 habit you will be consistent in

“Practice becomes a habit; habit becomes a lifestyle and a lifestyle is hard to break.”

To do anything well, you have to first make a decision. Making a decision doesn’t necessarily mean choosing to do many things at a time but rather choosing one thing, get consistent which will then result in success. This can be reading the Bible daily, spending 1 hour working on a project, writing down 5 things you’re thankful for daily, whatever it is, choosing to do it, working on it and being consistent. There is no shame in doing only one thing and working on it until you become successful at it. Better to be a Jack/Jill of one trade and master it than to be a Jack/Jill of all trades and master of none

  1. Read an empowering book

Read a book that will help you overcome, challenge you or inspire you to step into greatness. Reading helps to develop and shape your thoughts and inevitably your actions – “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” Proverbs 23:7. Finishing the year strong calls for endurance and endurance calls for strength and empowerment, so start reading now! The Bible is the best book of all, couple it with some good reads that are aligned with what you want to achieve or more importantly, where you need to be when the year ends spiritually, mentally, emotionally and professionally. Incorporate what you’ve learned from your readings and watch how well you’ll end 2021.

Regardless of when you’re reading this, you do have time to accomplish all your goals, just start now and watch the difference it will all make.
