Answer The Call

Let me share the dictionary definition of CALLING“ this is a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence.”

In my own words I believe our CALLING is the active aspect of our purpose- this is serving with your gifts and talents. Calling is about doing something!

With this understanding, you realize we are CALLED for a purpose and God has a unique assignment for your life. Know that your life is precious and now is the time to ANSWER God’s calling of your life.

Sometimes we get super enthused or even discouraged when we think about our life’s purpose or calling. We wonder if we should be a pastor or something involved with serving in church. One of the things I’ve learnt is that in different seasons we can be called to different things. For example, long before David became King, he was a shepherd. In that season of taking care of sheep, he developed skills to help him achieve his purpose in the other season.

I say this to say, start serving in this current season… Serve others… Use your gifts and pursue your passions.

Even your occupation can be a part of your calling. So, as a teacher, police officer, author, singer, dancer, janitor.. You can be fulfilling your calling.

One thing you should never forget, your purpose will and must GLORIFY GOD.

All in all, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as He leads you to walking out your calling.

So, how do you answer the call?

  • Accept the gift of salvation: Know that Jesus came and died for your sins to reconcile you back to the Father. Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). So, without having a relationship with God you truly won’t be able to know your calling.

  • Surrender your plans to God: Your calling is God’s calling so you can’t find it without God. So give your plans to Him and He will lead you.

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart but the Lord’s purpose will prevail”   Proverbs

             19:21.

  • Be open to His direction: Seek to stay open to God’s leading. He may lead you in ways that might surprise you.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5”

  • Believe God wants to use you: Know that your past, your finances, failures, mistakes, insecurity or satan cannot stop your calling. Know that God’s plans for you are good and He wants to use you to bless many lives.

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” – Jeremiah 29:11.

Know that today is the day to answer God’s call on your life.

Repeat this prayer: “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered and that my life is fleeing away” Psalm 39:4.
